Biography

Dr. Jismulatif is a senior lecturer in English Education and literature at Riau University (Indonesia). Since 1998 he has been teaching as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Education, Riau University (Indonesia). He holds a Bachelor's degree in English Education, a Master's degree in English Literature, and a Master's degree in American Studies. He completed his PhD in 2014 at Padjadjaran University in Bandung (Indonesia) in the field of Linguistics. His doctoral dissertation investigated the treatment of racism through a Critical Discourse Analysis approach. He has published extensively in the fields of Lingusitics and language education, culture and pedagogy. His recent books include Discourse and Ideology of Racism, Multicultural Aspects in English Textbooks in Indonesia, and Introduction to English Drama, Fiction and Poetry. He has received awards from the President of Indonesia: the first award for ten years of dedicated service as an English teacher. He is currently entrusted as the head of the Master's Program in English Education at Riau University in 2021. Jismulatif has mentored and examined many bachelor's, master's, and PhD students.
